I am here along with two other girls who are short-termers (as we seem to be called). I am not too fond of the name. But what can ya do. Anyways we all went on a boat trip up the Tapajous River and off on to other tributaries. It was like an 18-hour boat trip to the village. We went along with some of the long-termers and a team of Canadians who are here for 2 weeks. We helped finish a church building. This consisted of finishing the brick pouring the support columns, leveling the floor building a platform and leveling, building trusses, and rafters laying the roof and mixing and pouring the concrete floor inside.
We left with it almost finished. We ran out of concrete but they say one or two more bags and they are finished.

Since I am not busting at the seems with muscles, I helped out in other ways. I did some shoveling of dirt and other jobs. But they had a help clinic too. SO I was able to take a few blood pressures of people and dress a few wounds. I loved it. Brought be back to my nursing school days.
We also had a dentist there with us who saw patient after patient. And pulled tooth after tooth. I kept asking him if the teeth could be saved and he kept explaining no. But I had never seemed so many people who need to have their teeth pulled. And that is not a sound I will forget. Yuck. I can look at gory stuff but there is some thing about teeth that are just not fun for me. But that is why God made us all different right.
I was also able to help out by photographing life, people, and kids, ect. ect.
We held service every night we were there, I think. I was so cool to see the community of people and how we behaved the kids were. I was blown away in the cultural differences of here to Africa. Both remote villages with little outside contact. Yet different.
While on the boat trip I got to hear in what ways ministry is taking place in the Amazon basin and how PAZ is a part of that.
How people have come to the lord how Brazilians are going out and wanting to see the lost, and start churches. I can’t wait to hear more.

Sorry the internet here is not the greatest.
Well what have I been up to. Well. I have been trying to learn about the mission. And Almost being here a month I can say I have bits and pieces. I have been helping one of the other missionaries in home schooling their kids. That has been fun, and a great review for me. It has allowed her to be free to take care of other things. She disciples others along with caring for her family. Her husband is the accountant for the mission here.
They have also put me to work in doing some graphic design for them. They are in desperate need of new promotional materials so I have worked on a few postcards, and helping give input on the new website that will be going up shortly. And capturing some photographs for them. To showcase the work that is going on here in the Amazon basin.
